Privacy & cookies
This is a personal site run by Diederik Hoebée in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. It has no accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no shop, so there is very little to tell — but what there is, is below.
The short version
Nothing is stored on your device and nothing is sent to Google unless you press Accept on the cookie bar. If you decline, or simply ignore it, the analytics script is never loaded at all.
Analytics
If you accept, this site loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-3M5RBB6ZZ2) to count visits and see which pages people reach. It records things like the page you are on, the page that referred you, your browser and device type, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and how long you stayed.
Google acts as the processor for this data. Google states that it does not store IP addresses in Google Analytics 4 and that EU traffic is routed through EU-based servers. I have not enabled Google Signals, advertising features or data sharing with other Google products, and the data is not used to build advertising profiles.
The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you gave by pressing Accept and can withdraw at any time. Data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically.

Changing your mind
Press here or at the bottom of any page to bring the bar back and choose again. Choosing Decline deletes the Google Analytics cookies from this browser straight away.
Server logs
Like every website, this one runs on a web server that keeps standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested file, browser — written automatically by the hosting provider. These are used only to keep the site running and to diagnose faults. They exist whatever you choose on the cookie bar, because they are a function of the server rather than of this site's code.
If you use the mail button on the homepage, your message goes to my own mailbox and is used only to reply to you. It is not added to any list.

Links here lead to X, Substack, GitHub and my own project sites. Once you follow one you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not this one.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to the personal data held about you, its correction or deletion, or restriction of its processing, and you can withdraw consent at any time. For analytics data the quickest route is the Cookie settings button above, which stops collection and clears the cookies immediately.
For anything else, write to me using the mail button on the homepage. You also have the right to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
